Lists and online vocabulary quizzes (Russian-to-English or English-to-Russian) on nouns, verbs, adjectives, adverbs, pronouns, cardinal/ordinal numbers and prepositions.


Words are taken from The frequency dictionary for Russian source states that 2000 most frequent words covers 72% of word forms in texts (in modern Russian Language).
For Russian to English translation I used following dictionaries: Multitran, Rambler-Словари and Babel Fish Translation

2000 most commonly used Russian words are broken down in four groups/lists of 500 words. Each list includes word usage (frequency of use), part of speech and English translation. Each list is followed by practice quiz where you will need to match Russian word to its English translation. All lists and activities are located at the leftside menu. Use quiz options to change exercise settings.
In addition, all words are divided by parts of speech. You may view list of only Russian nouns, pronouns, verbs, adjectives, adverbs and so on, and test yourself only on that subgroup of Russian words.
